Based on fact, The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman and The Tectonic Theatre Project tells the compelling story of Matthew Shepard, a 21 year old university student who becomes the victim of a fatal gay bashing and the monumental repercussions that were felt within the community and beyond.

The Tectonic Theater Project visited Laramie, Wyoming over the space of two years and chronicled these events to produce a theatrical collage which explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the compassionate heights to which we can rise.

Premiering last year in Melbourne to great acclaim by Brighton Theatre Company under the direction of Chris Baldock ("Love! Valour! Compassion!" - named one of the 10 best productions in Melbourne of 2003), due to overwhelming response The Laramie Project is being transferred to The Loft @ Chapel off Chapel and is being produced by The Act-o-Matic 3000, one of Melbourne's premiere independent theatre companies ( "....first class" - The Age ). If you missed it at Brighton, do yourself a favour and don't miss it this time. It is a unique theatrical experience you will not easily forget.
